I started sewing as a 10 year old in 4-H.  I received a blue ribbon on the skirt, but never wore it. There were specific construction requirements for the skirt. It had to be made a certain way. It did not matter whether the style would look good on me or not.  It didn’t.  I never wore it after the judging day. That was the first and last time I made something without having any creative license in what I was sewing.

I made, designed and embellished a lot of the clothes I wore in high school and college.  I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Home Economics Education with an emphasis on Clothing and Textiles and Consumer Economics. After college, I taught high school “home economics” for a few years, before quitting to raise our family of three boys. After I got tired of sewing for them, I started quilting.  I made so many quilts I did not know what to do with them. By the time my youngest son went to high school, I decided it was time to return to my love of clothing construction and pursue my dream of selling what I create. I’ve done the home shows, art fairs and events, markets, sewn for individual custom orders, and sold in boutiques.
